I like that a lot.  What did you use for the backer to get the 'glow' effect?

I guess I don't know what a 'barber chair' is.  When I think of a barber chair I think of barber shops and those chairs start at over $300.00 and quickly rise to nearly $2,000.00.  Pretty pricey for a seat in the garage.

I'm not familiar with your saw and certainly not very 'mechanical' but, I'd sure try removing the bolts and putting thin washers between the clamp and the holder to see it that would tighten it up.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Cutting Plexiglass
« on: October 22, 2018, 09:42:18 am »
I cut a bunch of 1/4" plexiglass a couple of years ago but, it was some pretty big pieces where I used a jigsaw rather than my scroll saw.  The dealer that sold the plexiglass supplied me with some special blades and they worked very nicely without any welding or  melting issues at all.

Talk to your plexiglass supplier and he might be able to suggest some scroll saw blades for you.

How big is  your Burma-Shave sign?  Does anyone know the size of the original road-side signs?

Like your Burma-Shave sign.  Brings back lots of memories.  I'm 77.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Finger Numbness
« on: September 19, 2018, 08:30:05 am »
Update:

At this point, the numbness still seems to be directly related to the amount of time spent on the saw.  The issue could indeed be a combination of the 'knobs' and machine vibration.  I haven't changed the tightening knobs yet.  I haven't spent much time looking for replacements but, I'm thinking about replacing the existing knobs (they're actually just T-nuts) by removing the plastic part and then using an allen wrench to tighten them.

I had a similar problem with my Hawk and found that by removing the holding screw and roughing up the end on some fine sandpaper the problem disappeared. five or, 6 strokes did the job.  Just be sure to keep the screw straight up so that the end is still square.

Good news.  No 'carp in my tunnels'.  The problem goes away when I don't saw for a few weeks and resumes when I start sawing again. It appears that it's a response caused by frequent tightening of the blade holders (T-knobs) on my Hawk saw.  I need to look around and see if I can find some different knobs to fit on the tighteners.

What is a 'wood hugg'?
