Hello everyone,

My name is Preston.  I live in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia.  Have only been scrolling for almost 2 years.  I have been having a blast with it, and look forward to many more years of this fun hobby..  ;D  8)

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!!  I try to make a variety of different things.  I am the one who made the box for a friend, that Steve shared on the blog back on Sept 20th..

Hi Preston..Welcome to the forum.   I love your box...is that finish lacquer or mirror coat?  I am working on a similar box and was thinking of using mirror coat (system 3) to fill in around the scrolled work.

Hi Tocaone , thanks for the comment on the box..  I am not familiar with mirror coats.  I use Minwax Fast-Drying Polyurethane Clear Gloss. I put multiple coats, sanding between each coat with a 220 or finer grit paper.  Then before the final coat I use 0000 steel wool..  After that, if I can see my reflection almost good enough to shave or better, I am happy  ;D !!
