Welcome to the forum! I agree with the others, buy a better saw if you possibly can. Also, buy good blades; I started out with a good saw but cheap blades and might as well had a cheaper saw. Believe me , good blades are  a must if you plan on scrolling much.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: What do you seal pine with?

I use Zinsser Bulls Eye spray shellac purchased at Home Depot and Wal Mart. It seals the wood fibers and the paint will go on evenly.

Welcome to the forum! Another suggestion is make sure your blade is square to the table. I like to take a small piece of a 2 x 4 and using my scroll saw cut a line on one side. then place the wood behind the blade and see if it matches. Of course, you can use a small square tool also.

Welcome Mark! I am Tony Cunningham, and live in Paris, Texas. I lived in Lakewood, Colorado for several years and really miss the mountains, rivers, etc but not the traffic now! I live on a small ranch, raise a few horses and have been retired for sixteen years. I really love scrolling! I have an EX 21 saw and love it. I purchased it from Ray at Seyco in 2011. I use Flying Dutchman ultimate reverse blades, ;primarily no. 1,3, and 5. My advise is get a good saw that you can afford and use good blades, such as FD, Pegas, Olsen, etc.; not ones purchased at HD, Lowes, etc. I buy most wood from Ocooch online, and there are other online wood vendors, and I use mostly Baltic Birch plywood. Do real well at craft shows close to Christmas selling ornaments and crosses. Make sure you have good ventilation for the dust also. I have an air purifier above my saw. hope this information helps and remember, there are no dumb questions; and there are many good scrollers on this forum that are willing to answer your questions.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Wood for Christmas Ornaments

I sell Christmas ornaments at craft shows and do very well. I cut mine out of 1/8"Baltic Birch, stacked cut 4 at a time. This saves a lot of time  and more profitable.
