General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Dewalt 774 problems
« on: November 18, 2013, 08:11:06 pm »
I have a 5 yr old Dewalt 774 type 2 scroll saw and have just love it.  Have not had any problems until yesterday.  It will not turn on. I have taped on the motor, checked the overload fuse, cleaned up the on-off switch with air hose and nothing.  Tried plugging into different outlets and so on but still nothing.

 Anyone have any ideas?

God bless
Stett14

I just want to point something out  you don't have a dewalt 774  it is a dw788.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Dewalt 788 type 2 quality level in 2013?
« on: November 13, 2013, 05:59:45 pm »
Hey guys I need a little feedback and info, I have had my heart set on getting an ex-21 to do all my scroll sawing on but its getting closer to Christmas and money is getting tighter so I'm considering going with a dewalt. With all the issues that have been reported with the type 2's I'm very hesitant to get one but at the same time if I get a used type 1 its going to be at least 15 years old and that doesn't make me comfortable either.

My question to you guys who have type 2's is if the quality has improved enough for the dewalt 788 to still be a good saw or am I going to be buying a saw that's going to give me headaches that I shouldn't have from a $500 saw?

My first DW788 and that was a 2011 modelwent to hell on me and dewalt replace that saw with a brand new 2012 model and been running great.

yep get one acme tools have theirs for $499.99 bucks on 11/22/2013 and 11/23/2013 they have 10% off..  get the stand and also get the worklight for it. and then go to mike and fet some FD-UR blades and make dust  eat the dust breath the dust lickthe dust off your lips.... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Enjoy the scroll saw  you can go to www.acmetools.com......

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: How should I adjust the blade on my EX21 CE
« on: November 13, 2013, 05:53:09 pm »
Hello friends!
A few days ago I noticed that the blade of my new EX21 model ce began to jump higher than normal.
Someone can tell me how can I set the blade?!
Thank you! :)

On some blades like the FD blades when you put on the tension on a new blade it will stretches. All you have to install a new blade and run it for a few sec release the tension and lose the top thumbscrew and retight it and flip the whitelever back and you are set to go... have fun....

here is a video on youtube you can watch.

I agree with Danny:  I have had a  Harbor  Freight saw and a DeWalt and found both of them to not be durable.  Since 2008 I have two Hegners and a Jet.

jet makes a scroll saw?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????/ WHAT ????? :o

I got one they are nice to cut wood stock 1 1/5" think blocks.  After I got mine I used it for a bit then I just shove mine in the conner and I never used it again.  I used it to cut BB-plywood but it was a pain in the butt. So I went and got a rockwell versacut mini circular saw.

Why not get a Excalibur 21 scroll saw from www.acmetools.com or  www.general.ca

Or a nice cool dewalt or delta 21" scroll saw from www.acmetools.com.

They are cheaper then the eclipse.

Ok..  It got lot of back and forth motion after I got the saw back from ray. Before the saw went bad.The back and forth motion was barly none and able to make tight turns and the blade last longer before. I could make a FD-UR #3 one blade last for hours stack cutting 1/8" thick of BB-plywood. Now the blade gets dull faster.  What happen to my saw was the bearings went out and ray replace the guts in it.

And for that person that had his saw for 10 years  how many times did you have to have it repair?

This say is only 2 years old now with new guts.

The ex-21 scroll saw just don't run right after ray fix it. :(

Julief said it perfectly. Side to side can be adjusted to 90 degrees but on most saws you can't get a perfect 90 degree on the back of the blade. This is part of the design of the machine to allow for a slightly more aggressive cut.

General Scroll Saw Talk / HELP squaring a blade
« on: October 24, 2013, 09:40:21 pm »
I just got my EX-21 scroll saw back last wednesday and I'm having a bit of trouble here to getting the blade sqaure again.  I have set the square on the back side of the blade and it is not square to the table  it is square on the side of the blade to the table and the upperarm is square to the table.

Before the saw went out it was square on the side and on the back of the blade.

Ray have put new guts in it and it seems to run ok but it has a gape between the square and the blade.

I have try turn the motor and that don't help.

see the photo see at the bottom there is a space between the back of the blade and the square

thanks.
