So... look at what I wrote please.
I said it was a good system, but refurbished and that it is manufactured by China.

Certified refurbished or not does not change the fact that it is a used system and has a significantly shorter warranty period than a new system would have generally only 90 days for a refurbished one ( industry standard ).

I said that it was a decent system for a laptop if you like laptops, which I do not.  Each to their own however.

I support all computers from tablets to servers so I have no real problem with working on a laptop except they all  have issues that sooner or later need to be addressed.  I prefer desktops as they are more flexible with hardware changes and generally are more powerful and cheaper than a laptop.

I also said that the price was a decent one as well.

I was not attacking the Lenovo offer rather offering my experience ( over 40 years supporting computers ) with the pros and cons of a referb unit.

DW

it does come with 1 year  warranty.

Lenovo is the brand name that the Chinese came up with when they purchased IBM's computer division.  The laptop is made in China.  Specs might be decent the price might be decent but this is a refurbished unit.  Need to keep that in mind.  Looks like a decent unit if you like laptops.  My doctors use them for their practice.  Might get one. Hmmm...

Computer questions / Re: windows 10 sucks
« on: August 17, 2015, 04:17:03 am »
I have installed Win 10 on 3 machines without a problem.  2 where running Win 8.1 already so not much change.  I had all Steve's programs running and no issues.  Same with Gimp and Inkscape. In fact GIMP loads much faster.

My wife's was Win 7 and it has not had any problems either.

The only issue I have is with the new Edge (IE replacement) as you can't modify the favorites bar.  I can't delete some crap I put there. Plus there is no tool bar as I used to run the Google tool bar that I liked.

The default search is Bing which I don't think is as good as Google and I just have to figure out a better way around that.  I have a link in my favorites to Google.

My own computer was slow with IE as I think malware bytes slowed it up but don't see the problem with Edge.

I pinned IE11 to the task bar and it still is slow and in fact sometimes won't connect.

My wife who is technology challenged discovered the start button on her own and now really likes some of the features.

Overall I like it and would not be afraid to recommend.

Don

PS:  The only issue I had with installation was on my computer I got error code 80244019 and it would not load the update.  All I had to do was remove the check for other Microsoft software updates and it was fine.  Just took me an hour checking Microsoft message codes and then I googled and it was an easy fix.

If you must upgrade to windows 10 do a clean install. Don't do the upgrade just cause problems
Yes you can still get windows 7 updates and support for at least 5 to 8 years. I to have windows 7 pro and windows vista and both still get the windows updates and support from Microsoft. I just hate windows 10 because for one they force you to windows updates and drivers and there is no way to change that like in windows xp windows vista windows 7 and sucking windows 8 /8.1

Steve what is your new e-mail address.

You really should dump Adobe flash player from your website and use HTML 5 for videos.

Windows 1o sucks

Be careful when you do install windows 10 it not really 100% free and it got tons of bugs in it.

I would stay with windows 7 pro 64 bit.

Tannks for the combacks, had to put the comouter in  the shop, seems to be a hard drive problem., hopefully will get it back tomorrow.  edward

I would get the Vipre internet security 2015
and the fixmestick at www.fixmestick.com or you do like me and get it from www.hsn.com. the fixmestick is a usb antivirus that runs off the usb stick. Works great for the virus that get pass the anti-virus software.

soemthing to think about getting both of them are great in getting rid of the virus the both vipre internet security 2015 and the fixmestick I have lifetime updates and software updates for the life of the computer. On hsn is where I got the vipre internet security 2015 and I got the 10 pcs lifetime protection and 3 lifetime protection of the fixmestick. I run the fixmestick once a month. and the fixmestick is not a replacement for the antivirus software both antivirus software the fixmestick is hand in hand.

You could try to get an update for Adobe Flash Player. I have Firefox as well and no problem, but I right clicked on the area where you got the message and selected "properties" and found it to be an Adobe product.
Pete

when I right clicked on the area where I got the message I don't see properties?

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: How thick is too thick?
« on: January 23, 2015, 11:45:03 am »
Hi everyone.  I have an odd question. I want to make some simple designed crosses. They have a few curves here and there.  I am using 1/2 in wood. I was thinking about stacking 2 together so that I would be using my time more wisely.  Stacking 2 would now be 1in thick. I am using a #3 or a #5 blade for easy maneuvering on the curves. Can I stack them? Will I need to use a different blade? #7 and will I be able to cut the curvy pattern with a 7? Orrr should I just continue to cut them out individually? I need to make 4 for a friend asap and they are very time consuming. ( it is an Amazing Grace cross) Thank u for your help and patience.

4 feet thick i think that would be too thick LOL....  ;D :))
