Fishing Bear
« on: July 24, 2011, 06:24:02 pm »
Here is my latest intarsia piece. The Fishing Teddy Bear. The plan is out of the Scrollsaw magazine. I believe it was about 40 pieces and cut from various woods. Sapele, Poplar, walnut, Padauk and one I'm not sure what it is, but I cut the feet, fish and part of his face from it. I got it from an ebay sale. This was a fun project

Good job Crusty, With the wide grain, it looks like the wood could be Oak you got off ebay.  I like the pattern and your choice of woods.

Chachi, quit selling yourself short! You can this. If you have a spindle sander, you can do Intarsia! And if you don't, drum sanders that mount on a drill press, or the ones that mount to a Dremel will work too.

Thanks everyone! I do want to say, If I can manage to do this, I think anyone can accomplish this. I use a dremel tool with a wand attachment. I have Muscular Dystrophy and mainly work from a wheelchair. My hands are very weak, so it is difficult to hold tools. So put your mind to it, have a little patients and you will be surprised what you can do.
Yes dgman, it is a Judy Gale Roberts pattern. I really like her stuff.

Great job Crusty :), I like the way the grain in the feet run ;), probably is oak. For those out there who feel intimidated by intarsia :-\, you should make the attempt,  :D   you will be suprised at how quickly you learn to apply what you already know ;D.
