General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Mitre Saw Blade Selection
« on: July 23, 2013, 11:05:42 am »
I agree with Julie, a sharp blade and painters tape should solve you tear out issues. The 60 tooth blade should work, but it might be worth investing in the 80 tooth if you are going to be doing a lot of thin wood cutting.

I bought one from Harbor Freight www.harborfreight.com/flexible-shaft-grinder-and-carver-40432.html Put some light grease in the handle before you use it the first time and it seems to work great. I've had it a few months, it does not get heavy use from me, but it does what I need it to do. It will take any 1/8th inch bit you need, for less than $50.00 you can't beat it. I use it mostly on my intarsia.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Snapping Blades
« on: February 16, 2013, 12:34:59 am »
You're pushing too hard! Let the blade do the work. It's a scroll saw not a table saw. :) Slow and steady is the rule, scrolling is a race won by the Tortoise not the Hare. It took me six months to figure that out, haven't broke a blade since!
