Been busy myself, making bone sawdust, from Moose antler (bone) I'm still making stuff and using my saw for various projects.
Current build is a Bowie knife that I got unfinished from the web.
I'm putting a bone handle on it and trying to give it the appearance of Ivory. The other option is plastic that looks like fake ivory. It's a big one 15.75" overall. I sanded the grinding marks off of it and then mirror polished it with my rotary tool (Dremel Clone) so I can see my face in the steel, and only have the handle left to do. Antler is tough stuff and is slow going getting it sanded down to fit, then to end up with a polished finish to further make it look like ivory, it's mainly a wall hanger and I wanted it as pretty as I could make it.
I haven't been on here in quite a while, and I'm ashamed to say so
, I miss all the good folks I used to jaw with here and I wonder if any are still here that remember me?
That old Horse Thief Robroy from Scotland doesn't answer my email any more and I'm concerned if he is still well and popping up here anymore. Marg thought he was but I've never heard for sure, and I miss him and his charming family!
I'm going to make a point of checking in here more often and letting y'all in on the gossip from out here in the far west.

So far so good staying away from all the saw bonz other than preventive maintenance.
Not much in the way of scrolling just now too many other irons in the fire, Maybe get back to it this fall.

I've never cut purple heart so I can't say how hard it is.
I have cut full 3/4" oak with a #1sr or a #1ur I've seldom gone larger that a #3
FD blade, I've never gotten the hang of the spiral blades but can cut a finer pattern
than with any other blade. The Olson blades I found didn't last as long either.

Heck do something even if it's wrong like finding a new mist---s nah better think of something you really can do. LOL
Someone beat me to it saying to take up whittling those chips are way too big for you to snort unless you have the nose of a horse or elephant. I can't do nearly half of what I used to but I still play with guns and tinker with wood, although the cost of ammo is ridiculous. There must be something you would enjoy doing so just do it.

To those of you who may still remember me, I'm still kicking staying vertical and taking nourishment.
Been busy as a one legged well digger this spring, made 2 sets of pistol grips one for my stepson's 1911
and one I sold for another man's revolver.
I've just finished up building, (finishing it would be more correct as it is a rough machined and inletted stock) for my Ruger 10-22 rifle, lots of sanding and 10 coats of LinSpeed linseed oil finish later I think it looks pretty darn good I'll see if I can still remember how to upload photos to this post. Just noticed the post from Steve about the attachments problem, I guess I'll have to come back later and put some on here for you to see.
The wood is spalted sycamore and it really gives it a dramatic look. You wood junkies should enjoy it.
I didn't use the scroll saw on it but I did on both sets of pistol grips so I'm still using it often.

Hey y'all
I've been remiss with my appearances here and miss my good friends from days gone bye.
I'll be doing more scrolling this winter, yep you heard right old Gabby will be working indoors, in my neighbors shop where we have real heat and lights Yee Haw! Currently I'm in the decoration phase on my second and biggest Didgeridoo, and I may have a buyer for it already. Or not! I might not be able to part with it. I plan to post photos here once it's finished, but it's in the watching grass grow stage since I'm no great artist so I progress quite slowly.

Most of the folks in the "trade" crate train their dogs from puppyhood and they put them to bed in there at night. As Dan stated they hate to have to sleep in thier own mess and respond to it quite readily. Now and then you will get a really stubborn one that will defy you but eventually the regular hours and prompt trip outdoors to their toilet area will win through. A command to go Pee or your choice of word repeated over and over untill they do their busines followed with "good dog go pee", and a reward of petting and a treat (simply some dry kibble works fine) soon they will go on command and this comes in really handy if you are traveling and pull into a rest stop. Hook up your flexy lead and trout out to the potty area and give the command. and don't scrimp on the praise any time they do what you want. They usually live to please you! By the way the more excited you sound to them the better they like it, so pretty soon you'll be making the baby talk with squeals sounds yourself. LOL Dogs love it!
Oh did I mention all of our dogs are crate trained and sleep there at night. My wife is a professional trainer / handler / breeder with over 60 years in "the trade". Another tip, feed them in their crate and let them take a little nap an hour or so, then take them right outside you will have good results. We only feed once a day in the evening which also causes them to be quieter at night (a hungry dog is awake which is why guard dogs are fed in the morning) and dogs systems respond well to that, as wild creatures they often wouldn't get a real meal every other day or so, so they evolved the ability to adapt to it. Dogs are great beggars and we humans are such soft touches that we usually over feed them. You are NOT doing them any favors they suffer from obesity as much as humans do. Be kind, keep them slim!

What got to me is they hardly seem fazed by those kicks, I'll bet they would floor even one of those kick boxing tough guys with just a couple. Sure made my gut hurt just watching it. I wonder how long the fight lasted.
