I feel sucker punched by DeWalt Service Center...
« on: July 12, 2017, 09:50:50 pm »
Well a couple of weeks ago I sent my saw to a DeWalt Service Center to have the bent arm fixed (as I mentioned in another thread).  Well I got it back today and I am sorely disappointed.

1.  The arm is still not straight in line with the housing.
2.  The black housing on top is cracked where a screw was tightened too much.
3.  There are scratches on the bottom support bracket.
4.  There are scratches on the tensioner arm on top.
5.  The motor (get this) is scratched on the decal AND a number was etched onto the housing!
6.  The arm now shakes a lot at the speed I usually use!

(I will attempt to post pics when I get them from my phone to the computer and sized.)

Needless to say I am extremely upset and venting now here so I don't regret something I might say to the DeWalt Service Center!

I purposely sent the saw to a factory service center that has worked on scroll saws not a local one which has not!

I am off to get the pictures prepped.....

Karl I would contact Dewalt Corporate and include pictures.  I have not had issues with Dewalt Service Center here in NE Ohio.  It might just be the one that you took the saw to.

I know the feeling.....a few years ago I took one of my DeWalts to the Seattle service center and it came back with the same problems as when I sent it.  I called and complained and they said to bring it back, so I did, even though the place is over 100 miles each way from my house.  The saw came back in the same condition the second time.  Plus, the guy who was getting it our of the back of my van started to lift it by the top arm!!!  I knew at that point that they were never going to be any help to me.

I actually gave up on that saw and bought 4 more of the "gently used" Type 1 DeWalts from area woodworkers.  It's amazing how many people buy tools thinking that they will use them and never do.  They just sit around being ignored!  Between all of those and the new Jet I bought last winter, I should be set for quite some time.

DeWalt's lack of durability is why I got rid of mine years ago (2008) and got a Hegner.  No problems with it after 8 years.

25"Hegner Multimax-3 (1986)

I sent out a letter last night (after posting here) to the same person to whom I was speaking regarding the bent arm.  I included several photos as we.

As of right now I have no response.

Really sounds like it is the technician working at that repair center... no pride in their work, no responsibility for damage either is would seem.

This may sound like a silly question but are you sure you got YOUR saw back. Maybe they sent someone else's saw to you. Or on the motor issue, maybe they put the wrong motor back on your saw. There a many questions here regarding this repair. I'd insist on a new saw.
