General Scroll Saw Talk / InLace
« on: July 21, 2018, 12:48:47 pm »
Hi All,
Just watched Steve's videos on liquid inlays.  In them he talked about an oil he uses on the key chains he is making and I didn't catch which oil it was.  It could have been lemon oil, mineral oil, etc.  Can somebody (or Steve) let me know what oil he was using?

Thanks
Cathy

Pattern Requests. / Pattern for a Pastor's Wife Cross
« on: June 18, 2017, 03:02:39 pm »
Hi All,
I can find cross patterns for nurses, fisherman, firemen, police, hunters, etc and etc., but I haven't found one for a Pastor's Wife.  Our Pastor is getting married and I thought a Pastor's Cross and Pastor's Wife Cross would make a nice gift for them.  I can't find anything.  Does anyone know if and where I can find one?

Thanks,
Cathy

Pattern Requests. / Scroll Saw Fonts
« on: April 23, 2017, 11:21:31 pm »
Hi All,
I am trying to cut a prayer and I can't find a scroll saw font.  I have googled, shopped, etc and can't find anything.  Help Please!  I really appreciate any assistance.  This is the prayer I am trying to cut.

Thank you, God for this food.
For rest and home.
And all things good.
For wind and rain and sun above.
But most of all those we love.
Amen.

Thank You
Cathy

Hello All,
I am hoping to scroll a family photo from a picture I have as a Christmas present for my son and family.  I don't know if my picture is of the quality or size needed, but I would be most appreciative if someone would be willing to take a look at it and let me know.
Thank you

Pattern Requests. / Jesus praying at Gethsemane
« on: June 09, 2016, 01:30:10 pm »
Hi All,  I have been looking for a long while for a scroll saw pattern of Jesus praying at Gethsemane.  It needs to be small enough to fit into a cross that is about 2 1/4" wide, so loads and loads of detail just won't work, but I do want some detailing (veining is fine).  I appreciate any help.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Soft wood scrolling
« on: May 06, 2016, 10:17:36 am »
Hi All, I need your help.  I am trying to cut a dragon pattern from thermally modified poplar.  I have cut multiple compound cutting projects with this wood and it is awesome for that and the color is unbelievably gorgeous.  When I planed the wood down to 1/8" to cut the dragon I found it's very, very soft.  I really want to use this wood, can anyone give me hints on cutting soft woods or know of a way I can harden it?

General Scroll Saw Talk / Excalibur or DeWalt DX788
« on: October 11, 2015, 07:43:13 am »
I have the Porter Cable scroll saw that I purchased at Lowe's quite a few years ago.  Little things are beginning to go wrong with it and we have just about run out of "bubble gum and rubber bands" to keep it running.  So...I am looking for a new saw, I think I have my search narrowed down to either the 16 in Excalibur or the DeWalt DX788.  I certainly would appreciate some opinions on which saw to purchase.  Thanks, Cathy

Introduce Yourself. / New scroller with a BIG question
« on: July 27, 2015, 07:55:20 am »
Hi all...scroll saw newbie here!!  I have completed a few projects and had fantastic luck and results, so I want to expand some on the things I am making.
I am completely taken with the 3D/compound ornaments and candle holders. I have made two attempts and failed miserably.  My bottom cuts are way off..I am going as slow as I can and trying to let the bottom of the blade catch up with the top, but obviously there is some user error going on here.  :(
Anyone out there willing to give me some pointers/advice on cutting these things?  What wood is best? And above all else how do I decide what blade to use?  HELP
