The Coffee Shop / Prayers and eye surgery
« on: January 29, 2023, 08:13:09 pm »
I thank everyone for all the prayers and well wishes.
So far, the  surgery on my  left eye has improved much
moree quickly than the right eye did, Unfortunately, the
clarity in both eyes leaves a lot to bd desired and I regert having
these surgerys.
I hve been without my glasses since late September or early
October and am dealing with daily head-aches and dizziness.
Hopefully I can get new glasses soon and make a lot of difference
in my life.

The Coffee Shop / Prayers please
« on: January 15, 2023, 11:53:38 pm »
Greetings, Guys and Gals!
I have not been active lately because I had eye surgery on my right eye and a medical procedure on my left eye (Holes in the eye to relieve pressure).

On January 18th I go in to have cataracts removed, a prosthetic lens inserted, and a donor corneal transplant on the left eye which is what I have already
had done to the right eye. The right eye rejected the corneal transplant and had to be done again. It is still not healed completely but, is progressing.
I have not been able to wear prescription lenses since October 5th of 2022. Thus, lots of head-aches, dizziness, only very short drives in the day-time
on familiar roads, very limited in activities such as scrolling, and lots of frustration because I cannot read and cannot see well.

So, I am begging for lots of prayers for my health and a quick and successful recovery from surgery with hopes I can be fitted with glasses and get back to a somewhat normal
life within the next three months or so.

This surgeon is very highly rated but, it seems strange that he uses few stitches and instead puts a bubble of air to hold everything in place so, for the first 24 hours
after surgery I have to lie flat on my back with no head support and try to keep that bubble centered as if it was a carpenter's level. Of course, I am allowed to get up
to use the restroom and eat but he wants those times limited to 15 minutes and as few as possible. If everything looks good at a follow up visit to the surgeon the next day,
for the next two days after that, I am supposed to lie flat for two hours at a time with about 15 minutes at a time to eat or stretch and then back to bed.

Your prayers would be greatly appreciated and I hope to become active on the forum again as soon as possible to see what kind of great projects I have been missing.

Thank you and God Bless!  Spirithorse

The Coffee Shop / Steve's balancing projects
« on: March 14, 2022, 09:28:45 pm »
I thought I'd do two quick and easy projects from
Steve's recently posted balancing projects.
I took a 17 second video of the skateboarder but, the video ended up
being 43 MB!  He does twirl around the base pretty well.
The balancing bird was really quick to cut but, I had to add two
blocks of 1/4" thick wood about 1/4" square near the tips of the wings
to make it balance close to level.
Has anyone else tried these projects?
Thanks for looking and God Bless! Spirithorse

Pattern Requests. / Steve Good's LARGE FAMILY NAME INITIALS
« on: November 14, 2020, 07:23:14 pm »
Greetings,
I wasn't sure where to pose this question for the best response but, I am wondering what font did Steve use in his
pattern called LARGE FAMILY NAME INITIALS in his catalog here https://www.stevedgood.com/catalog/

I don't use Inkscape but, when watching his YouTube video about this pattern, I did not hear the font that he used named.

Thanks for any replies and God Bless! Spirithorse

Computer questions / Back up Recovery Disk in Windows 10
« on: July 13, 2020, 10:57:42 pm »
Greetings,
I tried to make a back up/recovery disk for the entire computer using the prompts on MS 10
and after the back-up was supposedly completed onto an external hard drive a pop-up came up
saying the back up was completed but, was named  "Windows 10 recovery - 64 bit (Windows 7)"
with the Windows 7 in parenthesis just as I typed above.
I don't understand this at all. The computer was purchased with Windows 10 already installed and
has never seen any version of Windows 7 but, I sure wouldn't want to need the Windows 10 back-up and
for some reason have Windows 7 installed.
Any idea why the discrepancy here?
Thanks and God Bless! Spirithorse

The Coffee Shop / Purchasing On-line
« on: February 07, 2020, 01:33:27 pm »
If many of you reserve a credit card just for On-line purchases I'd like to offer just a quick bit of advice that may be helpful.
I made a purchase through Amazon and the seller seems to have kept pushing the delivery date back. In other words, on Amazon
it said my package should arrive by Feb.3; then changed to Feb 10; then Feb 27 to Mar 3rd. Many credit cards have
Credit Card Purchase Protection which you can read about here https://www.creditkarma.com/credit-cards/i/credit-card-purchase-protection/
That's not identity theft protection like you hear about on the news all the time.
This particular seller also gave me and Amazon a fictitious tracking number for the package. It said the package was delivered BUT, it was easy to
see it was not delivered to MY address.
If I had let this ride for more than the 30 day purchase protection on my credit card, chances are that Amazon would have said their refund policy does
not cover this third party seller and my credit card company was off the hook because I kept letting the seller push back the delivery date.
Hopefully the info about Credit Card Purchase Protection is new info for some users and hopefully the info about checking the refund policy from Amazon
or other companies and their third party sellers to be extra careful about credit card charges.

The Coffee Shop / OLD posts showing up in threads
« on: September 23, 2019, 09:44:50 pm »
When I went to the Coffee Shop today (Sept 23, 2019) the most recent post shown was Sept 6, 2019 and the next few below that were
April and June of 2019.  Are other members seeing only these old posts or is it just something going wrong on my end?
I'm certain there are more recent posts than that in the Coffee Shop area.

The Coffee Shop / Steve Good's Castle Visit
« on: June 15, 2018, 05:07:50 pm »
Poor Steve,
After about 40 years of wondering about the castle, he had to be ushered through the back gate.
My, oh my. Patty must have been so ashamed!
Just kidding, folks!
I'm glad Steve and Patty had such a wonderful visit and nice meal together.
God Bless! Spirithorse
