General Scroll Saw Talk / SCROLL BEACH ITALIC FONT MISSING
« on: January 03, 2018, 12:32:16 pm »
I used to use a font called scroll beach italic found in the stencil pattern maker downloaded from this site. Now, that font is not listed and I cannot find it anywhere. I powered up my old computer and there it is still listed in the old stencil pattern maker. So, I copied the old version to a flash drive and downloaded to new computer, but, the font has been deleted. Can anyone help me on this?

The Coffee Shop / Christmas Show Over!
« on: December 22, 2017, 09:40:38 pm »
Boy, am I glad the Christmas craft shows are over! I had a good year, but, I am tired! It takes so much work setting up and taking down displays and at my age (75) the ole body begins to ache! Anyway, had a successful year and after a little rest will be getting ready for next year! I will be taking note of items that do not sell good and those that have sold well and will refurbish my inventory. My trailer is empty; took all items that did not sell to my displays in a couple of stores; so will start from scratch on my inventory and will begin to look at craft shows in my area for next year. I will probably cut back on outdoor shows; can't take the heat or cold, so indoor shows mostly. Hope everyone had a good year and merry Christmas and happy new year!

General Scroll Saw Talk / Christmas Already!
« on: August 14, 2017, 10:25:58 am »
I cannot believe it is almost Christmas already! Yep, I have started making my ornaments and other items for the Christmas craft shows starting in October! I did not want put it off like I did last year and had to rush, rush rush. So, getting my stock made early Seems strange cutting out ornaments and it is over a hundred degrees outside! Hope everyone has a successful Christmas season this year! Just a side note; I am also cutting more plaques with the Baby Jesus theme this year because I believe we as a country need to get back to the real reason for Christmas ! JMHO

The Coffee Shop / Flooding in Texas in July!!
« on: July 06, 2017, 11:29:19 pm »
I cannot believe this weather in NE Texas! Here it is July 6 and we are getting pounded by rain! We have had over 12" the last 4 days! I live on 17 acres and about 10 acres are under water, flooded because the creeks are out and grounds are soaked! I guess on the bright side, there will be plenty of hay this winter!

General Scroll Saw Talk / Scroll Saw Font
« on: July 04, 2017, 06:25:41 pm »
I had to get a new computer and for some reason, the scroll saw fonts I used in the past can no longer be found!? I remember downloading them in Word and in Stencil Printer but now cannot seem to locate them anywhere. I remember three different styles and were called "Scroll Saw". Maybe I am confused and if so, someone out there set me straight! LOL!

« on: May 05, 2017, 09:36:02 am »
Well, tomorrow will be my first craft show of 2017. It will be the Heritage Festival in Bonham, Texas. Only bad thing is having to get up at 4:00 am to feed horses and other animals and then feed ourselves and check trailer lights, brakes, etc,; make sure all bins have been loaded; double check items such as the Square card reader works; shopping bags, business cards, cash bag, canopy is loaded; lets see what else??? Goodness, lot of  work but so much enjoy it!!

General Scroll Saw Talk / Blade Change RBI Hawk 226M
« on: April 20, 2017, 06:46:13 pm »
A friend of mine just purchased a used RBI Hawk 226 M scroll saw; no idea how old. I am guessing around 10-15 years, but it has hardly been used. She asked me to come over to show her how to change blades. I had no clue! I finally got the old blade out by removing the bottom holder and using two pair of pliers (top holder no problem). There has got to be an easier way of changing blades; so please someone let me know how. I am going to look for a manual online, since the previous owner did not have one. She only gave $100.00 for it, so I hope it was a good buy.
Thanks,

General Scroll Saw Talk / Cedar Wood
« on: August 02, 2016, 03:32:48 pm »
I recently cut some bookends from some scrap 3/4" cedar someone gave me. I really loved the way the cedar finished. I dipped it in BLO/Mineral spirits mixture and finished with a clear poly. I went to Home Depot to buy some more, but, it was not the same; no red color or pattern. Is there different types of cedar? What I used was red; really nice patterns with very few knots.

General Scroll Saw Talk / First Show of 2106
« on: April 27, 2016, 11:58:58 am »
Getting ready for my first show of 2016! Guess I should say "we" as my wife is my partner in this crime! It is an outdoor show which I really do not care for but my wife decided to purchase a new white craft canopy or tent with sides, etc so need to put it to use. Getting my inventory list together and my cargo trailer packed and arranged for the coming year and searching for new patterns; and I thought being retired meant "retired"from labor??!! My wife is, as I am typing this, on line making deposits for future shows. I believe we have five on the books so far. Oh well, if I did not enjoy scrolling and laboring at craft shows, I would just be sitting in my recliner getting fat and lazy and at 73 years young my cardiologist would not like that and tell me to walk 4 miles  day. Instead, I scroll and do craft shows!

General Scroll Saw Talk / Bloxygen/Stain Storage
« on: October 30, 2015, 04:29:20 pm »
I have a problem with wood stains getting thick and separating after a while. I dip most items, so I have the stains stored in plastic tubs with supposedly air tight lids. I do realize that space between the lid and the stain will allow oxygen so the stain will oxidize I assume. I ran across a product called Bloxygen, which is mostly argon and it comes in a can and is dispensed much like keyboard air cans, etc. It is supposed to force all the oxygen out of the container. I was wandering if anyone here has used this product, and if so, would appreciate any feedback. Also, any advice on oil based stain storage would be greatly appreciated.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Hot Blade and Hot Wood
« on: August 17, 2015, 04:52:51 pm »
I know it has been hot here in NE Texas, but, recently my scroll saw blade and the wood has been getting extremely hot! I mean, a piece flew out while cutting and landed on top of my hand and OUCH! I have never experienced this before. I run an EX21 at 95% speed, but have never experience this before. So, I was wandering if an adjustment of the saw, besides slower speed, could remedy this? Even the wood has burnt marks.

Hey guys, I am buying an Apple I pad to use at craft shows. I use the square on my phone, but, the pad will make it much easier and also, I want to build a catalog of all my work to show customers my Facebook page. How do I download these from my laptop to the I pad? How do I put the apps from my phone to the I pad? Thanks in advance for your help!

I would like a pattern for a wall plaque of this if it is possible. This is for my daughter-in-laws son who is a tattoo artist and this is his logo. He is wanting to donate this for a charity auction, but, I do not have the know how to convert to a pattern, if it is possible.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Wet Wood
« on: March 22, 2015, 06:01:56 pm »
Well, UPS left my order of Baltic Birch at my gate and I discovered it the next morning after we had 5" of rain!! The shipping carton literally fell apart when I picked it up! It was had been shrink wrapped, but the water found a small hole and of course the wood was soaked on one end. It was 10 pieces of 1/2" x 12" x 24" BB and about 6" of one end was soaked. Can this wood be salvaged? I have a call into the vendor and they will need to file a claim I guess. But, I really need the wood now, so was just hoping after drying, if the wood could still be used or will it warp and will it still cut ok?
