The Coffee Shop / stain on walnut table, help

"A friend" has a table she thinks is walnut (I haven't seen it) that developed a white stain after someone set a hot, damp paper plate on it. The stain is white and I have no idea what to tell her but thought I'd mention it here since I know there is a plethora of knowledge viewing this very post. Thanks in advance.

Get togethers, shows and swap meets / Mid-west Scrollsaw & Woodworking Trade Show

The show is in Dubuque this weekend Friday August 14 and Saturday 15 google it for all the info.  This is the show that used to be in Richland Center it was always well attended and a really good show to learn lots of new scroll saw stuff.

I'm surprised I haven't seen it talked about here, it  is Aug. 14 & 15. This one will be in Dubuque, Ia the previous ones held at Richland Center were always well attended so I am sure this will be a good show.  Hope to see some of you there.  Pete

Pattern Requests. / Kukla, Fran and Ollie

A long while back I remember someone putting a pattern up of Kukla, Fran and Ollie.  My doc has a last name of Kukla so I thought he may get a kick out of it.  I"ve checked way back and can't find it.  For you youngsters it used to be a TV show with Fran and two puppets named Kukla and Ollie, big in the 50's (that's 1950's...just sayin').

Pattern Requests. / Black bear picture frame

I've been searching for a frame for a 5X7 pix, I hiked part of the Appalachian Trail this summer and need to make 7 frames for a pix I chose.  We had seen a bear "up close and personal" so I wanted that theme.  Since it's a 5X7 the frame will have to be like 8 1/2X11 (paper sized for reference)  Not to be too demanding but I would like maybe a bear on each side and room for a little wording on top or bottom.  Just the silhouette of a bear I think would make the frame too big. I thought it would be simple to find one but haven't had any luck and I can't even begin to make a pattern like that.  Thanks so much if anyone can help.  Pete

General Scroll Saw Talk / warping wood with plaques

I seem to have a problem with warping when I make a plaque mostly when I use 1/2" walnut.  Is this a problem for everyone or am I doing something wrong?

General Scroll Saw Talk / Blo/mineral spirits and bookmarks?

So I have made over 100 bookmarks, put the blo/ms (50/50) on them, wiped them down, let them air for 2 days and they still leave a bit of an oil mark on the book page.  Will this ever dry??  What have you done?

General Scroll Saw Talk / Taking a cruise, need your ideas

Wife and I are taking a cruise in about a month, it's a Disney cruise.  Problem is the group we are going with exchange little mementos like party favors and I'd like to do a simple key chain or something similar.  My problem is I need about 45 for kids and 45 for adults.  Even stack cutting that's a lot.  A Disney themed item would be nice but realize I can't ask for that, anyone have any ideas?

General Scroll Saw Talk / D788 wobble

 :-\I seem to have a problem with my D788, there is a front to back wobble.  This is the saw I received in replacement at Christmas when I had to replace the first saw because of side to side wobble when I opened it up new.  Is there a correction for this?  It is causing some problems when cutting.  If there isn't an adjustment then I am in a world of hurt.  HELP.   Thanks Pete

So what do you guys use to drill the really small holes for inside cuts? The small bits are too small for my drill press. I'm using my hand drill and doing pretty good most of the time, it's those other than "most" times that are infuriating
