The Coffee Shop / How is Corona effecting your life?
« on: March 22, 2020, 09:23:02 am »
Hi Y'all,

With this new Corona virus going around the world I was wondering on how it does effect your daily life?
Over here in Holland, bars, restaurants, schools, churches are closed.
And also a lot of stores did close their doors.
Doctors office and hospitals did go into emergency protocol.
for now all is going on till April 6th, but possible extending.
I'm passing true the day, staying in the house. Watch TV and use the PC.
I'm glad we don't feel lonely with no kids that visit, we have the cellphone and use video calls.
And luckily I've the workshop to pass some of the time...
And the sun is shining outside, so we sit in the sun and enjoy it.

so i was wondering how y'all get true the day?

The Coffee Shop / special postcard request
« on: January 11, 2016, 12:15:22 pm »
Hi everyone,

My sister in law has a big surgery planned coming Friday with a 6 weeks recovery period.
Yesterday I accidentally overheard a conversation with her and my daughter (who is abroad coming week) and how she likes get well cards from other countries.
so I thought, lets ask my scroll friends all over the world if they would help me to surprise her by sending a simple get well card?
If you want to help me please send me a PM and I'll send you her address.
I'm sure she will be surprised and appreciates this very much !

TIA

General Scroll Saw Talk / Height saw setup
« on: January 03, 2016, 06:53:32 am »
Hi Everyone,

I have my Hegner mounted on a almost 35" high table (own build) and it's mounted on an angle towards me so the height of the saw-surface is 41"
(Hegner has a Standard machine stand 31?? high. Short stand height is 20?" high.)

When scrolling most of the times I sit on a kind like bar-stool and the height of the seat is 31,5" so I have a supports to put my feet on.
I also did build a support on the stand to place my foot switch on.

Works OK, but always think, why didn't I use a lower setup.
Also looking if the distance between seat and saw-top is good, eye/saw-blade  on the work and the height for neck and shoulders is good.

So, just wondering on the setup each uses:

Do you sit or stand scrolling?

do you use a foot switch?

What's the height of your seat?

And the height of the saw-surface?

The Coffee Shop / Steve's new Little Ducky Pan Vent Scroll Saw Pattern.
« on: August 20, 2015, 10:24:21 am »
I like this pattern/idea Steve made.
This could be a nice gift or selling item....
Can imagine maybe Steve will making different shapes like Santa, reindeer for Christmas, or a turkey for Thanksgiving, etc.... (hint ;))
My thought is, maybe use Corian or these cheap plastic/poly cutting boards instead of wood. (no problem with steam/moisture)
The cutting boards are for sale in different colors for $ 2,-/3,-  at the cheap discount shops.  8)
just an idea....

The Coffee Shop / Still not back in the workshop
« on: August 09, 2015, 05:11:19 am »
Hi you all,
It has been a while since I was here an since I've been cutting in my workshop.
4th of May I cut into my finger as you might know.
Terrible healing process ever since.
After 6 weeks of agony the doc pulled out a hidden piece of fingernail....
About 1/3 of my whole fingernail.
I between I had developed necrosis.
A part of what was stitched back did died and became black.
About 2,5 week ago doc did cut of  85% of the dead tissue, only problem was the anesthetic didn't work well.
And he did removed an other 1/3 healthy fingernail.
I'm quite angry about that.
Meanwhile my joints got "frozen " so overall a painful process.
But think it's going the right way now.
Enjoy my vacation and started with exercise now.
Can't wait till The last parts of dead tissue and scabs will fall of.
Bin over 3 months now....
So I woul like to go back cutting some wood again.

The Coffee Shop / Bad luck...
« on: May 12, 2015, 01:27:58 pm »
Last Monday (May 4th) my left index finger had an encounter with the blade of the table saw.....
I'll spare you most details, but wasn't a nice thing to see that finger tip.
Not sure how it happened, but reminiscing I might have just tipped the blade with my nail and was caught into the spinning blade.
So in a split second I had a split finger...  :-\
Bones broken, most of the nail gone...
Went to the hospital, doctors did stitch it for one hour.
healing is doing OK, although yesterday some parts seemed to turned black.
have to wait if this is bad or that good tissue will grow underneath.
today is the first visit to the forum again, want to let you know.

For the thrill-seekers I did add some pics...   8)

Pattern Requests. / Pattern request
« on: May 12, 2015, 10:45:32 am »
Hi Folks,

I make this request for two patterns for our scroll friend Rigo from Belgium.
He has some trouble uploading pictures to the forum and so I'll make this in his behalf.
Both of his parents deceased (his mom in 2011 and his dad 09/2014) and now he wants to make this patterns for his brothers.
I know there are some great pattern makers out there, so if some of you would be so kind and make Rigo two great patterns.

Pictures are in low resolution because of the forum 128K limit.
if you need I can email you bigger pdf files, let me know.
But probably this pictures are good enough.

TIA.

Marcel

The Coffee Shop / Good Service Ebay seller TotalDIY
« on: February 21, 2015, 05:57:36 am »
some time ago I ordered brass plated D-rings.
was kind of surprised when they came chrome plated, but didn't took action right then.
so after a week I got an Ebay feedback request and put in "neutral" and Ebay suggested to make contact with the seller first.
so I did wrote the TotalDIY seller, explained all and they said: "Sorry, our mistake, we send you the brass plated, and no costs!"
and.... they told me not to send back the chrome plated.

so now I have 200 D-rings instead of 100, and that's what I call good Service!!
