General Scroll Saw Talk / I'm still alive and kicking....
« on: March 16, 2016, 12:20:18 pm »
Greetings, Sorry I don't post as much as I used to but I am still alive and well. I still check in two to three times a day just to make sure everything is ok and ban spammers when they post... ;)

I have a lot of new things going on so it really keeps me busy...I still scroll but I am doing all sorts of woodworking and DIY stuff now. I also do YouTube videos on my channel https://www.youtube.com/c/SimplyWoodenCreations1980  and on Saturday nights at 8:00 pm EST I have a live show (Let's Talk Shop With Russ) where we talk about woodworking and also have guests who do projects live where people can ask questions in the chat section. I would appreciate it if you check out my channel and drop in one Saturday night and watch. Also my newest sponsor has done a complete make over of my website http://www.simplywoodencreations.com/ . I think it looks fantastic and could have never have done it without there help...

This forum is still one of my favorite places to come and see what everyone is doing...just thought I would let you know """I'm still alive and kicking"""

Stay Dusty,
Russ

Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year to each and everyone here on the forum, from my family to yours... Russ

If you have a little time this might give you a little chuckle or two.
If you remember I changed the lyrics to a Christmas song several years ago for those of us who scroll.
Steve posted the new lyrics on his blog. This year I decided to take it to the next level so I hope you enjoy.

The Coffee Shop / Beretta Jetfire .25 Caliber Pistol
« on: April 03, 2015, 01:18:04 pm »
While out walking along the edge of a pond just outside of The Villages here in Florida, my soon to be ex-wife was discussing property settlement and other divorce issues, we were surprised by a huge 12-ft. alligator which suddenly emerged from the murky water and began charging us with its large jaws wide open. It must have been protecting her nest because she was extremely aggressive!!!
If I had not had my little Beretta Jetfire .25 caliber pistol with me, I would not be here today!
Just one shot to my estranged wife's knee cap was all it took. The 'gator got her easily and I was able to escape by just walking away at a brisk pace. It's one of the best pistols in my collection! Plus the amount I saved in lawyer?s fees was really incredible.

Pattern Requests. / New Rule For Posting Photos For Pattern Makers
« on: March 13, 2015, 09:36:30 am »
Since there is limited space for Photos here on the forum I think I have a way that we can help but I need everyone's cooperation and understanding as to what we need to accomplish.

As of today if you want a pattern made from a photo, make the post and state/type " I have a photo I would like to have made to a pattern. Any pattern makers willing to help please respond either here in the post or in a PM (private message) your e-mail address and I will e-mail you the photo". But Do Not Upload A Photo.

You don't have to use those exact same words, I hope you understand my message/example.

This will help with the limited data storage and it has it's bonuses. You will be able to send the pattern maker a larger photo through the e-mail and the pattern maker can send you a larger pattern to use.

I think this is a win-win situation. We can all do our part to help Steve out and it will help the forum. I hope everyone understands and cooperates. It maybe an inconvenience but will help with the data storage usage and we may not be forced to use an outside source.

Just to make this part clear, if you make a pattern and want to share it with the forum members you can still upload those. We are only talking about the pattern requests (portraits) from a photo.

Thanks,
Russ

General Scroll Saw Talk / Forum Problems ; 404 error
« on: March 09, 2015, 07:40:27 am »
From Steve Good.

There are problems with the Community forum. For those of you who are members there please know that I am working on the issue. Most the the attachments for the posts such as pictures were lost. My hosting service allows unlimited storage but only if it does not cause the server issues. Apparently it was causing issues and they were only giving me a few hours to fix it or be shut down. I was trying to delete only the older attachments but they all got deleted. I'm trying to recover the lost images but no luck so far.

The size of the storage space for attachments adds up pretty quickly. I have to forum software set to delete post attachments after so many days but it does not seem to be working. I want to be able to continue to host the attachments on my server but if I can't get it worked out I may have to only accept offsite attachment hosting. Sorry for the trouble.

Pattern Requests. / Charles Dearing
« on: March 02, 2015, 10:01:16 am »
Pattern Special from Charlie. Wow what a sale. If you where ever interested in any of his patterns this is a great opportunity.  :)

From Charles web page http://www.woodenvisions.com/

For a very short time I am offering all 14 e-books for $100. If you bought them separately that would be $140. You also have the option to buy just 7 of them for $50. YOU pick which 7. To order them, go to paypal and send payment to artistic_cowboy30@yahoo.com. If you?re doing the 7 book deal then please put which 7 books you would like into the description area of the paypal transaction.
Also, think of this if you?re hesitant to buy the e-books. If you were to buy 5 or 6 patterns individually, that would be $35-$42. Kind of makes that $9.99 look good doesn?t it? ;) If you were to buy all of the patterns individually that are in all 14 e-books (69 patterns), that would be WAY more than $100. Even when this special ends, $140 is still one heck of a savings off of what you would be paying to buy each pattern individually. More books coming soon, but the sale is ending any day now.

Individual e-books can still be purchased for $9.99 if you choose. :)

Interesting short video that might help in answering questions about Tightbond Glues.   8)   Addressing FAQs about Titebond Original, Titebond II and Titebond III   (I noticed it loads a little slow so you might have to be patient).
