« on: September 19, 2019, 05:38:10 pm »
I saw a lady wearing a monogram medallion the other day, said one of her relatives made it on the scroll saw. Does anyone know what program to make a pattern for a round monogram medallion.

General Scroll Saw Talk / cuttin plastic
« on: September 03, 2019, 09:19:04 pm »
I was trying to make a number placard for my mailbox. I previously made one out of 1/8 Baltic birch and finished it with 4 coats of poly. I guess I didn't get it sealed well enough for the Florida weather and it fell apart. I decided to make them out of plastic. I had a cheap cutting board I had bought to make runners for a tablesaw sled. I printed my pattern and tried to cut it bet the plastic melted and sealed the cut behind the blade. I tried slowing down blade speed and feed rate but no luck still seals the kerf. Any suggestions?

General Scroll Saw Talk / Seeing blade during cut
« on: August 31, 2019, 10:17:49 pm »
I know everyone probably already knows but I had an "Oh Boy" tonight while cutting a key chain nametag. I realized I couldn't see the blade because it was against the black of the pattern I printed. This caused me not to be able to cut accurately. Next time I will print in another color that still contrasts with the white paper but lets me see the blade.

General Scroll Saw Talk / key chain nametags

I have made 4 name tags from Steve's  design, 3 from 3/4 cherry and 1 from 4/4 purpleheart. the cutting wasn't bad but I left them 3/4 and 4/4 thick respectively. I am now going to sand them but they look way too thick. Those who have made these how thick did you make them. I would like to cut them down but my band saw is not that good and cutting straight line with the scroll saw is not easy for me.

Intarsia / Butterfly

Watched a video about a butterfly done by a lady named Cy. cut it out tonight but haven't finished it. I found out cutting hardwood is more difficult than the ply I have been cutting. Will post finished picture, later.
