« on: January 08, 2018, 07:30:00 pm »
i have tried my hand at 3D pictures, well 3 so far ;D.
when using photos and comic book covers spray glue on both the wood and paper with a little pause makes a great bond.

i am wanting to try a few album covers but not sure how to treat the cardboard so the is does not shred when cutting or over time. any help would be great... thank you.

i had a request for OZZY and 2 days to complete.
i made 2 patterns but did not have a lot of time to refine them so i used a pattern i found on the net, but know not whom to give credit.

13 x 16 was a challenge for me on my 16" saw, but i like learning new skills.

all the gifts are done in luan and put into a standard 8x10 picture frame.

the 5 stack cut projects contain 10 family members in all. each person pictured will get all 5. plus i am sending 1 of our sons to my ex-wife and her mother, one of my oldest son and his wife to her parents and several people not pictured.... about 56 all together.

went on a search and found this. it is meant for stain glass but you can put any picture file in, input the sizes , and the output goes straight to your printer.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Glue????
« on: November 07, 2017, 09:39:40 am »
i have found i love doing portraits. i have been using 10" x 8" Luan and putting the wood in a frame so glue has not been an issue.
well i have started doing larger projects and am not having luck with glue.
outside edges are not an issue because if i get squeeze out a flush trim bit works fine.
BUT on my inside fret work i either don't use enough and the part just kinda floats there OR it has just enough to squeeze out and mess up the backer,

any help would be welcomed.

3 stack cut yesterday 1 had squeeze out and this one only the left cheek stuck.

General Scroll Saw Talk / help with tape???
« on: October 29, 2017, 06:59:55 am »
i have used steve's tape method sense i started scrolling and love it.  i use 1/8th luan stacked 4 to 6 high for my family portraits and microwave the tape off the last 2.
now to my dilemma...

i will be using the same luan and stacking 4 high on a 10"x 26" portrait... ( i have a 16" saw)
2 probs...
1. it would take more than a roll to tape...
2. won't fit in micro to remove tape, my hair dryer won't work, and i don't have a heat gun.

are there any "cheap" alternates to tape that will not damage the face of the luan?

thanks,
chris

i have been scrolling about a year and have turned my focus to portraits. some people have seen my work and asked about the cost to do one for them... now for my question... what is the going rate or fair market price in the southern United States?
