General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: Been out of the loop but coming back

Get to it! Fun times await!

Oh believe me I know fun times await, I did alot of sawing back in the days when I first started, its mostly a hobby just to have something to do, most times I just give my stuff away to family or friends, if I can make a buck or two that sweetens the deal. I like doing this fo rme its relaxing, I have been fighting depression for a long time, around 15 years and doing this calms me down and almost puts me into a zen state of mind, I can sit for hours not get bored or get tired of it. Just turn on some music and cut away and let all my troubles and fears float away in sawdust.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Re: rotary tool with flex shaft

I have a flex shaft with my dremel, after years of holding a heavy dremel in my hand and trying to do anything with it, I finally got a flex shaft and it was awesome, dremel is a good brand and have lots of things to use with them, thats if doing small things like cutting or sanding or polishing.

The other bigger units I can't say how they are, read the reviews if there is any see what others are saying of course like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Ok so I have it figured it right, its been a long time like about 4 years since I had to order blades. I am just glad to get back at the saw making stuff again, only thing that seems to keep me relaxed.

I have mikes workshop saved, but I need to know if my figures for blades is right, if I get 6 dozen at 3.00 a dozen that would 18 bucks total. I do think thats 72 blades, and 12 dozen is 144 blades which would be a gross I think.

I have been away from saw for a long time well few about 4 years. After getting into a depressive state and on top of it losing my house, I had no place to do anything so it all went to storage. I am now getting I guess to say back in a place to be able to do some scroll work. I am having though to regather supplies. I still do have some FD blades I had stocked up but I want to order but I don't remember when I ordered last how I ordered them or how many I got at a time, or the cost. From what I can figure say they are 3.00 bucks a dozen If I buy 6 dz that would be 18 bucks right? And that would be 72 blades and a gross would 144? Its been so long I don't remember how any of that works anymore.

I want to get some new blades and look into getting some spirals as well, I got hooked on those and want to use them more. But want to know if my figureing is right before pulling the plug.

Depending what I am I am cutting I use baltic birch, most of my stuff is small so I get it Micheals craft store, true baltic birch if you get it in sheet good form  it is 5x5 if its 4x8 its plywood veneer birch. I also used veneered plywood thats 1/4 inch thick I can get it in 2x4 or 4x4 just all depends what I am cutting, around my area if I was to find small enough hardwood I would need a band saw or planer to mill it to the thickness I want.

Steve has posted on his blog that shear amount of emails he gets he can't read them all, might keep trying or put a subject line that will catch his attention and maybe he will see it, he is also a busy man and has said he can be hard to get ahold of in emails as the amount he gets in a day.

Amazon hopes your not paying attention the next time you go to buy and click buy.

Amazon is known to do this, they saw you look at it and not buy it, then hoping you go back they raise the price a little knowing you came back to it and now want to buy it. Go back again will see it decrease.

To be on the safe side if any question of risking damage take it off the stand to transport it.

Have you tried auto parts store? They might have one that would fit or close to it, might have to do a little fabbing on the plastic housing to get it to fit. Is this the light from HF?

I love that about HF as well, I sometimes look at the manual to get a idea of how it works and how to use it before I buy it. Plus I loose mine all the time and its great to go back and download to look something up.
