I use the same method for all but simple cutouts.  Blue painters tape, spray adhesive on paper pattern then stick to tape,  clear packing tape over all of it.  I push down real hard to get maximum adhesion.

To remove, start on a corner and peal off in one sheet.  The many layers adds bulk and I can get the pattern off in a few chunks.  Not a big fan of having flammable soaked rags around or the cost of the spirits.  This leaves he wood clean of chemicals and adhesives that would show through the finish or need work to remove.  I don't like busy work.

I have used my D788 A LOT.  Never did any maintenance or repair.  Only problem was the on/off switched gunked up.  Took apart and cleaned, now works without problem.  If I used a foot switch it would eliminate this problem.

I would encourage you to buy a D788.

Was just thinking about my show yesterday, which was a great success!

I engaged a customer and spoke about a customer that came to my booth a few years ago.  The prior customer was very plain in his dress and kept to herself.  I was very polite and showed her a few things in my booth.  I then stepped away and let her shop.  She looked at one of my higher end crafts $40.00  She thanked me and left.  I thanked her for stopping. An hour later she appeared and purchased the $40.00 item.  She looked like she didn't have the money to even buy it.  If I would have ignored her, I would have  been rude as well as missed the sale.  Moral:  Never prejudge anyone.  It is just wrong in many ways.

I conveyed this story to a customer yesterday.  My friend was at the show and new the customer.  The customer owned a very large well known company.  Second Moral:  Same as the first.

After not selling any beer totes for $35, I made a stack of eight and priced them in bold print at $35.00.    Sold six.  Having a stack of them created interest and sales.  If something doesn't sell, make more an/or raise the price!

Attached is my take on two of Steve's patters:  The Fallen soldier and Dog Tags.  I combined them both to add dimension, meaning to the recipient and revenue.  The cherry base was a crack in the wood that, to me, represents hills and ground during battle.

Wood choice in in the eye of the beholder.  I use pine in about one percent of my projects.  If I'm taking the time to cut a pattern, I use hardwood.  It's more expensive, but it finishes better and is dencer.  I like cherry and maple.  If you have access to a planner, you can recycle discarded furniture.

I have a hanging Delta air cleaner that filters to 1 micron, plus a cloth dust mask and fans.  Never too much clean air.

After rereading the post and Bear Woods ad, I have come to the conclusions as follows:
*Steve thinks $50 is a reasonable price
*Take a photo of the finished product and you could win a $50 certificate from Bear Woods
*I believe I could sell it at a craft show for $8-10 bucks.

I was intrigued as to the $50 car pattern and made one.  Took some careful cutting and sanding to get the three pieces to line up.  I used a cherry center and maple sides. Can this really be sold for $50??  Pricing is one of the hardest most debated process in all crafts.

I would love to see a selling price range on the patterns or forum section on what others are selling finished patter items for.  I know there are a ton of variables.

While finishing a bunch of Christmas ornaments, I needed a way to hang them for drying. I took a wire coat hanger, cut the bottom off, bent up the edges then straightened the long pieces to horizontal.  Just slid the ornaments on the coat hanger and hung up to dry.  Just be careful to balance the weight side to side.  A clothes pin at the top to clothes line helps to prevent sliding.  You can hang anything with a hole.
