Title: shawdow box
Post by: seadog852 on November 24, 2016, 06:31:23 am
Nativity shadow box, layered scroll, red LED.
This is a Sue Mey pattern.  Measured 8X9x2.25 using 1/4 birch.
I already have people interested in it and was pricing it out and got a little worried.

Looking for feed back on what you think it should cost. Thanks for help.

That is very pretty.  Try a blue light as an alternative if you can, may be a little softer for some folks.  As to price, depends on your area, how much you have in it for labor and materials.

Excellently done.  Like Mike has suggested perhaps a light blue light.... gives it a more serene feel.  That came out great and at the shows around me that would easily sell in the $30 - $35 range, it all depends upon the venue though.

Hi, Seadog,
That is beautiful! I would also prefer a blue or white light rather than red but,
you did an excellenct job.
As for price, I'm not from the show me state but, if you sent me one, I could
probably get a better evaluation of price! LOL    Just kidding!

It is beautiful and a wonderful advertisement for Sue Mey.
Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse

These have been my biggest sale since i've started scrolling. Going easily for 50 for white lights and 65 for color lights that have remote system.

Those are spectacular and maybe I'm kind of slow here but, how do you get the multiple colors in the boxes?  Are  you putting different colored lights in each layer?  If so, how do you deal with heat and cord management?

I've purchased the pattern and plan to make a couple of these but, the multi-colored light effects totally fascinate me.

Another question about lighting for this project. . .  What are you using to light it.  The usual C7 Christmas light  needs more room than the 3/4" shown on the pattern.  This would seem to make the overall depth of the finished shadow box to be at least 6" (if not more).  Is there a better lighting option that I'm not aware of that would cut down on the depth?

I used LED strip lights. Get the color version with remote. You can change the colors. I've also done them with just white lights and battery pack LED lights.

Very nice job.  Might I ask where do you get your lights or light kits from.

THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL DISPLAY OF YOUR CRAFTSMANSHIP.  I HAVE NEVER BUILT ONE OR USED LED LIGHTS.
I DO THE CRAFT SHOW THING AND WOULD SAY EASILY I WOULD PRICE THIS AT $40 OR MORE....  Danny  :+}
